SCANNER, Recruiting

We currently need a scanner for Tales of Destiny II.

There are two different ways to become a Boku-tachi scanner.

  • Become a scanner for a Project already in progress

  • Suggest to us a new Project that you are willing to be a scanner for.
[Please no hentai or licensed manga.] We will discuss with you the viability of the project depending on the availability of translators and editors.

Points to think about before you apply:

  • Are you okay with flattening your manga to gain a decent quality scan?
[We don’t ask that you take your manga apart, but we do require a scan without or with as little spine blur as possible.]

  • Do you understand or have the ability to learn about dpi, greyscale etc.?

  • We like the scanned manga to be in Japanese or Chinese.
[This will affect the Translator as well.]

  • As a matter of preference we want raw scans to be 1500px high with a dpi of 900 or higher.

If you’re still interested, email us at titling your email “Boku-tachi - Scanner Application”

Please note: you must include the words Boku-tachi in your subject title or your email will be automatically deleted.

Please include within the body of your email:

  • Your online name.

  • A current, working email address.

  • The name of the project you wish to scan.

  • A http link to an example of your scans.
[If an http link can’t be provided, just tell us and we'll sort something else out.]

We’ll then get back to you as soon as possible.

EDITOR, Recruiting

We currently need an Editor for Valkyrie Profile:TDA, Tales of Destiny II, Sotsugyou M, Darkwalker and Assobot Goku.

Points to think about before you apply:

  • Are you able to take constructive criticism?

  • Are you able to set yourself deadlines?

  • Can you work as part of a team?
[Editors generally co-ordinate between the scanner and translator and also report back to the rest of the group.]

  • Do you understand or have the ability to learn IRC?

Email us at titling your email “Boku-tachi  - Editor Application”.

Please note: you must include the words Boku-tachi in your subject title or your email will be automatically deleted.

Please include within the body of your email:

  • Your online name.

  • A current, working email address.

If we think you’re good enough to become a B-T editor we’ll get in contact with you.  Please make sure you have the time to devote to a series whether it be short or long. We only want serious applicants.

TRANSLATOR, Recruiting

Japanese Translators: Recruiting
Chinese Translators: Not Required unless the below applies.
[95% of our scanlations are in Japanese.  If a Chinese copy of a project we are already doing is available then we have no objections to this being used to translate from.]

Translators are needed for Assobot Goku, Kagerou Nostalgia, Valkyrie Profile:TDA, Wild Life and Darkwalker.

Points to think about before you apply:

  • Can you read Japanese/Chinese fluently?
[Or at least have the ability to translate manga into English in a way that makes sense.]

  • Do you have the time and are willing to apply yourself to a long or short series?
[We don’t ask that you spit out chapters weekly, but a four month wait for a single chapter is excessive.]

  • Are you willing to work with us for free?  Like most groups, we don't have the means to pay for translating services.  We make no money from this.

If you’re still interested, email us at   titling your email “Boku-tachi - Translator Application”

Please note: you must include the words Boku-tachi in your subject title or your email will be automatically deleted.

Please include within the body of your email:

  • Your online name.

  • A current, working email address.

  • Whether you are fluent in Japanese or Chinese

  • Your preference in manga.
[This helps us in considering which Future Project to offer to you.]
[For example: “I enjoy all styles, but fantasy is one of my favourites.” Or, “I like action, but no shoujo please.”]

  • Your time constraints.
[For example: "I'm in school at the moment, but if you have a short series I can do that." or "I want to tackle a long series."]

We will then email you with the http link to 3-5 pages of raw scanlations that we will ask you to translate within the next 2 weeks.  If we do not hear back from you after two weeks have passed, we will assume that you no longer wish to translate for us.

Once you have translated the raw pages please email it back to us as either a .txt .doc or .htm document.  How you set out your translation is entirely up to you, however this style is an example of what we're used to working from.
